Scottsdale Tower asks CFIs to be alert for arriving traffic from the north

Flight instructors operating in the Northeast Practice Area are being asked to stay well east of Pima Road on training maneuvers.

Airspace conflicts between arrivals to Scottsdale from the north and flight-training aircraft have recently created a safety concern, according to the air traffic controllers. They are proposing that flight training maneuvers stay east of a line that would extend from Sky Ranch at Carefree airport to Pinnacle Peak, thus reducing the airspace conflicts.

Details are in the latest meeting minutes of the AFTW, which are available for download here, as a PDF.

The next meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 12, at the Scottsdale Flight Standards District Office.
