Luke Air Force Base

- Luke      Air Force Base Special Air Traffic Rule (SATR)
- Will become effective May 6, 2010, on the next VFR charting cycle publication date
 - The SATR dimensions were discussed
 - Two-way radio communication must be established prior to entry and while operating within the SATR area for VFR traffic
 - The SATR has been determined to be necessary for safety
 - The SATR will be active from Monday to Friday during daylight hours
 - The SATR may be activated on other days and at other times by NOTAM
 - It is expected that various ATIS broadcasts will alert airspace users of the SATR status

- Two telephone lines are forecast to provide information about the status of the SATR as well
 - Frequency 118.15 to be used when north of Luke runways
 - Frequency 125.45 to be used when south of Luke runways
 - Luke requests aircraft identification, location, and altitude from the pilot in the initial radio transmission
 
 - Some noise complaints were generally discussed
 - Reported near midair collision with model aircraft operated from Rittenhouse on the east side of KIWA
 - Noise      abatement at KFFZ was discussed
- Airport management requests flight training operations be avoided from 2200 to 0600 local at KFFZ
 - Runway 4L is the preferred training runway
