Last spring’s tragic midair collision in the northwest Valley has brought about increased awareness of the need for greater emphasis on standardized procedures and improved safety education among flight instructors.

While the National Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate (http://www.ntsb.gov/aviationquery/brief.aspx?ev_id=20130531X43432&key=1), flight schools and the AFTW plan more outreach and safety communications to a wider audience of instructors and their students this fall to help maintain good collision avoidance procedures during air training work.

Details on this and the rest of the AFTW meeting on Sept. 11 can be downloaded as a PDF here.
