The following is from Casey B. Giddens, Air Traffic Manager, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway FCT:

Beginning next Monday, April 14, 2014 a maintenance project is scheduled to begin at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport; the project forces the closure of Runway(s) 12L/30R for an anticipated duration of three weeks.

A Safety Risk Management Panel (SRMP) was convened to identify hazards being introduced into the NAS due to the runway closure and I am pleased to announce that none were identified.   Please remember that Gateway supports a wide variety of customers and can be a very dynamic environment; the airport serves airline, military, business jet and a whole bunch of flight training activity.  Although NOTAMs will be issued, I wanted to provide some advance information for general planning and awareness purposes.

Project begins:               0500L / April 14, 2014

Project completion:        1800L / May 02, 2014

Practice approaches:      Anticipate additional spacing on final approach (applied by Phoenix TRACON)

Misc:                             Although no overriding restrictions are being imposed, please understand that if traffic or airport conditions warrant, the Controller-in-Charge (CIC) or controller on duty may feel compelled to temporarily restrict certain operations.

Please check NOTAMs often.
